ADRIAN Morley has revealed he would be happy to spend the rest of his career with Warrington Wolves.
He has gone some way towards that this week.
Wolves’ skipper – and one of the biggest name’s in world rugby league – has signed a two-year extension to his existing contract, keeping him at The Halliwell Jones Stadium until the end of 2012.
And in further great news for primrose and blue supporters, fellow England train-on squadmates Chris Bridge and Ben Harrison have also added two more years to the deals they already had for next season.
Morley, preparing to lead England’s front row for battles with Australia, New Zealand and France in the forthcoming Gillette Four Nations, will be 35 years old when his new terms cease but he is not ruling out carrying on his career into 2013.
He highlighted fellow prop forwards like Paul Rauhihi playing for Warrington this year at 36, with old NRL rival Steve Price doing the same for New Zealand Warriors next year.
“I’m of the mindset that I’ll play on as long as I can,” said Morley, who has mixed it with the best packs on both sides of the world for 13 full seasons and is a key weapon in taking Wolves forward so that playmakers like Lee Briers can work their magic.
“You’re a long time retired and athletes are changing slightly these days.
“With all the modern training techniques, I think we could see more players playing longer.
“If this did prove to be my final deal before retiring, I would be more than happy to end my days at Warrington.”
